It was a holiday and yeah, I had planned to sleep till noon. But early in the morning, my mum woke me up by yelling at the top of her voice, "Maryam! Sharmeen won an Oscar! Hurry up! See! Come!" and took of my blanket an ran into my lounge to witness the scene with my mum who was already watching Academy Award ceremony. My eyes were open with amazement and I was seriously starstruck. She wore a Sania Maskatiya dress and looked lovely. She said, “All the women in Pakistan working for change, don’t give up on your dreams, this is for you.”
Pakistan won its first Oscar award for Saving Face. This is a victory. Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, congratulations and thank you for making us so proud.

Truly proud of her. :) I saw her speech on youtube as i missed the awards, stupid Pakistan studies exam. :)
