This is gonna be real serious, I am telling you.
So, well..
Lately, I've started to believe that I really need a psychologist cause, little by little, I'm turning into a depressed soul. No, seriously. You know why? Because my new school system is trying its best to discourage me to develop my analytical capacities while my parents, probably not intentionally, want to snuff out my sense of curiousity. Both, in school and at home, I'm told to pay due attention to my studies ONLY and stay away from other resources (like tv, internet and even newspaper, GOSH!) cause they apparently waste my 'precious' time. On the other hand, the most torturous thing is that the classes at school involve super long and boring lectures with NO class participations. Literally. I'm told to understand and reflect less on what I study and to emphasize more on what I should learn for exams in order to score good marks. This is becoming a very banal thought pattern. Are marks really a depiction of one's potential and intelligence? In my opinion, marks are nothing but numbers. Geniuses like Bill Gates, Thomas Edison, Louis Pasture, Steve Jobs and Albert Einstein were all bad students in school/college yet they did what most of us can never do. This reminds me of the Bollywood movie '3 Idiots' which has very clearly conveyed the message that gaining knowledge and understanding is way more productive than ratta lagana methord/memorizing. These great believers of 'rote learning' are killing my urge to explore the wonders around me. Fml.

Our education system is for normal/Ordinary students, and for normal students it is fine. I think it can be improved but it is OK for normal people. The name u mentioned were not normal people. They were extra ordinary people. So if their is no system they would still have done extra ordinary things. If you are in that class a school system cannot stop you from what u want to do.
So dont be depressed. Have fun.
I agree that our education system is a obsolete and there is not discrimination made between children who are gifted ,normal and those with special needs. But that doesn't give a reason to discard the need for an education system. Even if you are as capable as Bill gates or Einstein you must get the basic education so that you can use your intellect and go one step forward from that.
Most education systems are like this. It's why we have rising grades but dumber children.
Muhtaram Zafar Sahib has posted a nice comment. I (in fact every child) understand what you said Muhtarma Maryam. For you, I can only say that someone told me that knowledge is not a name of merely "study". Knowledge actually means discovering God. So, I suggest you to follow the footsteps of Geber ibn-e-Hayyan, al-Khwarizmi, Al-Kindi, al-Razi, al-Farabi, al-Masudi, Ali Hassan ibn al-Haitham, al-Buruni, Ibn-e-Sina, Khayyam, ibn-e-Khaldun, al-Nafis, Khusrau, Jaami, Mevlene Rumi - who created KNOWLEDGE from themselves and their knowledge was not a gift of school. The last suggestion is that if you want to change the system, you should first have the ability to accept the system. And, well, you'll find us with you in that. The more poison you'll drink, the more ability of change will be created in you. It is the rule that HUMAN has created ever since. But be careful, never give up your objectives if you do not find a possible way right now.
Control the school's environment might be beyond you but you can always talk to your parents and make them understand how important exploring is for you.
Don't feel disheartened by obstacles. Sometimes God puts us there to see how much we really want it. :)
Babydarling, when you're depressed, you probably need a psychologist, and not a physiologist. Typo? ^^
I agree wholly on all that you say. And yet there are those that make the best of both worlds, and manage to do well academically as well as pursue their creative stimuli. The trick lies in finding that balance.
I like the title.
That is really sad. In school it was the same for me, but now in college they encourage us to learn and understand what we are studying. Makes me feel much better.
And in such circumstances the only thing you can do is to not let your curiosity and urge to learn die. :)
Not to be a total bitch, but typos irk me a lot :( it's still not psychologist, you have 'phychologist' now.

Nice Blog awards thingy you got there... :P
Well, that's how it is around here, mostly =| but it's only for time being. Universities are different. They won't encourage rattafication techniques.
You can always discuss it with your parents And no, you don't need a psychologist. Keep your chin up and sing smile by Avril.
=)
Maryam,
Read 2 posts now. My congratulations to TSKL team and all the best in achieving their aim. Unfortunately most of the education systems it is marks obtained are more important even if the scorer may forget what he or she learnt after examinations are over. Concentration should be on imparting knowledge and not just making students learn by rote. Hope you find time for your creative urges inspite of all this.
Take care
Thank you for the valuable feedback, ya'll. Really appreciate it.
